Family Scrapbooks | Bond With Karla

Scrapbooks are more than outlets for your creativity; they are keepers of your family memories and preservers of anecdotes. One of the newest trends in scrap booking is using family trivia to create fabulous scrapbook pages or entire scrapbooks. Here are five great page ideas that use family trivia:

Military Page

For many families, joining the military is a time-honored tradition that has been undertaken by generations. Look for photos that depict several generations of your family in their military uniforms and create a timeline of military history in your family. Try to add some little tidbits beyond name, date and rank; your family will love reading little-known facts about their ancestors and their time in the military.

Grandparent?s Page

Find some treasured photographs of your grandparent. You can use a timeline of sorts starting from when they were very young to more recent photos or you can simply choose a few favorites from any time. Somewhere on the page, include anecdotes and stories of personal moments between the two of you. Your children will enjoy reading the stories and you?ll have favorite moments written down so those memories will never be lost.

Sibling Page

Every family has a funny story, or ten, about the siblings in the house. Whether it?s the strange way your sister used to pronounce ?toothbrush? or the way our older brother reacted when you were brought home from the hospital, there?s an anecdote waiting to be turned into a scrapbook page. Find a photo of your sibling or of yourself that helps to tell the story and create a page out of your photo and anecdote.

Family Trivia Page

Family pages are a great way to end your scrapbook! Collect favorite pictures depicting your family and come up with a list of ten fun trivia questions; if you need help, go talk to Nana. Adorn the page with anything you like and have fun watching your family guess the answers to the questions you?ve come up with. Try to be more creative than, ?what is John?s favorite color??

Couple?s Trivia

A couple?s trivia page is a great way to add a bit of humor and pizzazz to your wedding scrapbook. Think of little, funny anecdotes from your months of wedding planning, the first time he saw you in your dress or even that painful, but now funny, run in with a jellyfish on your honeymoon. Pages like this will give the rest of your family a better insight into your wedding and relationship, and you and your spouse will have memories written down that otherwise may be forgotten over time.

Family trivia pages are a great addition to any scrapbook, or a great theme for an entire scrapbook on its own. Ask your family members for help in coming up with factoids or fun questions to include with your treasured photographs. Creating a scrapbook is about making memories and can soon turn into a memory itself.
